Happy Fourth of July! We’ve got fresh-picked cucumbers, summer squash, zucchini, garlic scapes, lettuce, beet greens, swiss chard, sugar snap peas, and the occasional tomato ready for all the festivities!
Here’s a favorite family summer treat for you to enjoy this July 4th. Super simple and amazingly delicious.
The original was made with homemade bread (made with home-ground flour!) but a good analog is any round rustic loaf, a favorite is sourdough. You could also do well with Gerard’s amazing bread (available at #RailCityMarket )
The BCT | Bread, Cheese & Tomato
Ripe hothouse tomatoes (thinly sliced)
Buttercrunch lettuce (washed and dried well)
Extra Sharp Cabot cheddar (Thinly sliced, room temperature)
Toast bread, light mayo, cheese first (thin slices, little on both slices of bread) then lettuce, then tomato. Simple, fast, delicious, and if you serve it with a side of blueberries, patriotic!
